Risk Factors for Peripheral Artery Disase (PAD)

There are a number of risk factors for PAD, including:

• Age 50
• A family history of cardiovascular disease
• High cholesterol
• Diabetes
• Smoking (currently or in the past)
• Overweight and obesity
• Inactive lifestyle
• High blood pressure, heart disease or other vascular disease

Symptoms of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

Although the most common symptom of PAD is leg pain that occurs when walking or exercising, there are other signs that you may have PAD. Be sure to tell your doctor if you experience:

• Numbness and tingling in the lower legs and feet
• Coldness in the lower legs and feet
• Ulcers or sores on the legs or feet that won't heal
• Have pain in the legs or feet that awakens you at night
